Crews have completed the repair and are working on roadway restoration and cleanup.

Some westbound lanes of SE 17th Street will reopen as soon as possible, allowing westbound traffic to cross US 1 / S. Federal Highway.

All lanes in the area are expected reopen by 9 a.m.

UPDATE: Thursday, January 29, 5:00a.m.

Repair efforts at the intersection of SE 17th Street and US 1 / S. Federal Highway are ongoing and will extend beyond the previously anticipated 5:00 a.m. reopening time, which may impact peak-hour traffic conditions.

Crews have located the source of the leak on a 6-inch water main and are actively completing repairs to stop the leak.

Restoration work will follow once repairs are complete.

City crews are responding to a water leak at the northwest corner of the intersection of SE 17th Street & US 1 / S. Federal Highway in Poinciana Park and Harbordale. Exploratory digging and necessary repairs will begin tonight, Wednesday, January 28, at 9 p.m.

Traffic Impacts:

• All lanes of westbound SE 17th Street will be closed between US 1 / S. Federal Highway and SE 4th Avenue.
• Traffic will be detoured to Davie Boulevard, SE 3rd Avenue, State Road 84 / Marina Boulevard, and S. Andrews Avenue.
• Left turns from northbound US 1 / S. Federal Highway to westbound SE 17th Street will not be permitted.
• Up to two southbound lanes of US 1 / S. Federal Highway will be closed between SE 14th Court and SE 17th Street. One southbound lane will remain open.
• One westbound lane of SE 17th Street approaching US 1 / S. Federal Highway will be closed. Westbound traffic will be directed to turn left to southbound US 1 / S. Federal Highway or right to northbound US 1 / S. Federal Highway.

Drivers should follow posted signs, drive with caution in the area and seek alternate routes if possible.

All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Thursday, January 29.
