The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Engineer Control Systems, Corp. to make improvements to the West Lake Drive Bridge between E. Lake Drive and Mercedes Drive in Harbor Beach. This project includes:
- Installing a temporary support structure that will be moved from one side of the bridge to the other as one half of the bridge is repaired at a time
- Making structural repairs to concrete underneath the bridge
Construction will begin on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, and is expected to be completed in fall 2026. Work will generally take place weekdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. However, some areas of the bridge must be accessed during low tide; therefore, evening and weekend work may be required. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Traffic Impacts
- One lane of the bridge will remain open throughout construction.
- A temporary traffic signal will be installed to ensure the safe passage of vehicles over the bridge.
- Please follow posted signs and use caution in the area.
We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank our neighbors for their patience during construction.
