FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT A PRECAUTIONARY BOIL WATER NOTICE

A Precautionary Boil Water Notice is issued when an incident occurs in which there is a chance of bacteria entering the water system, such as, low or no water pressure as a result of planned maintenance, a water main break, or a disruption in the water treatment plant.  A Mandatory Boil Water Notice is issued when E. coli is detected in the water.

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requires a Precautionary Boil Water Notice to remain in effect until two consecutive days of passing water tests results are received.
