Visit a Pop-Up Park on PARK(ing) DAY
Friday, September 21, 2018 9AM - 2PM
The City of Fort Lauderdale invites neighbors, business owners, guests, students, and Community Builders to visit a pop-up park on PARK(ing) Day Friday, September 21, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (Get the press release here.)
PARK(ing) Day is a one-day global event held on the third Friday of September each year that brings citizens together to transform on-street parking spaces into temporary public places, such as pop-up parks, for everyone to enjoy. Temporarily transforming parking places into people places challenges us to rethink the ways our streets and urban space is used, stimulates creative placemaking, and raises awareness for the importance of creating walkable, livable, and healthy communities.
The City is excited to have 12 organizations participating in PARK(ing) Day, which is the biggest turnout ever. The organizations, locations of their pop-up parks, and a description of the activities taking place in their parks are featured on the map below (see RESERVED locations). We invite everyone to visit these pop-up parks to enjoy live music, games, refreshments, giveaways, and so much more.
When you visit a pop-up park, remember to share your photos on social media using #FTLPARKingDay and tag the City in your posts. Happy PARK(ing)!
The application period is now closed. Please check back next year to participate in the City of Fort Lauderdale's PARK(ing) Day event. If you have any questions, please contact Dee Paris at email@example.com or 954-828-3771.
