PARK(ing) Day is a one-day global event held on the third Friday of September each year that brings citizens together to transform on-street parking spaces into temporary public places, such as pop-up parks, for everyone to enjoy. Temporarily transforming parking places into people places challenges us to rethink the ways our streets and urban space is used, stimulates creative placemaking, and raises awareness for the importance of creating walkable, livable, and healthy communities.
The City hosted 12 organizations on PARK(ing) Day September 21, 2018, which is the biggest turnout ever. The organizations, locations of their pop-up parks, and a description of the activities that took place in their parks are featured on the map below (see RESERVED locations).
Make sure to check back for information on PARK(ing) Day 2019, set for Friday, September 20, 2019. Happy PARK(ing)!
The application period is now closed. Please check back next year to participate in the City of Fort Lauderdale's PARK(ing) Day event. If you have any questions, please contact Dee Paris at firstname.lastname@example.org or 954-828-3771.
