In order to implement corridor and master planning efforts, the Transportation Division often has numerous active construction projects. These projects include safety improvements, as the City and our partners implement engineering principles to bring us closer to our Vision Zero goal. Lead Agency


Las Olas Boulevard from Seabreeze Blvd to A1A  Fort Lauderdale Beach CRA The road is being reconstructed to create a pedestrian priority street, including a raised intersection at A1A.
NE 4th Avenue from Sunrise Boulevard to the Middle River bridge FDOT

This project features new buffered bike lanes with green paint at conflict points, narrower lanes, bus pickup and drop-off areas, and LED roadway.

NE 1st Street Pedestrian Safety Improvements

City of Fort Lauderdale This project includes new crosswalks, pedestrian refuge areas, new medians with Florida-friendly landscaping, and pedestrian actuated crossing lights.

SW 17th Avenue entry to Shady Banks

This traffic calming entryway project will decrease speeding and cut-through traffic in this residential community. 

Boys & Girls Club of Broward: NW 9th Avenue and NW 2nd Street

City of Fort Lauderdale

A mid-block, rapid flashing beacon crosswalk will be installed to provide a high-visibility crossing in this area where children often cross from school to after care. 

Sistrunk Boulevard from I-95 to FEC tracks

City of Fort Lauderdale

Six new crosswalks will be installed to improve safety for pedestrians and vehicles.

NW 4th Street from FEC tracks to Andrews Avenue

City of Fort Lauderdale

This project features new protected bike lanes and wide sidewalks to create a dedicated space for all modes and encourage mobility to Brightline and Broward County Transit Terminal. 

A1A from Fort Lauderdale Beach Park to Sunrise Boulevard


Fort Lauderdale Beach CRA

This is a streetscape project that includes relocating trees, signs, and poles along the curb to create an 8-foot minimum sidewalk along the seawall.  

Breakers Avenue Streetscape Project from Riomar Street to Vistamar Street

City of Fort Lauderdale The goal of this project is to build an iconic street that not only provides mobility but is also safe, accessible, attractive, climate-resilient, and a sustainable public space.
 Las Olas Boulevard Maintenance pdf City of Fort Lauderdale  In September 2019, crews will begin to focus on removing the bike lanes and other temporary modifications that were installed for the mobility pilot project along Las Olas Boulevard from SE 11th Avenue to SE 15th Avenue.
