The following documents were drafted by neighbors of the City of Fort Lauderdale to represent their vision for the corridor. These documents have not been formally reviewed by neighbors through a public process, nor City of Fort Lauderdale planning or engineering staff and do not necessarily represent the views of the City.

Las Olas Mobility Grant-Funded Project

The City of Fort Lauderdale received several grants from the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in collaboration with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to make streetscape improvements between Andrews Avenue and S.E. 11th Avenue. The improvements included:

  • American with Disabilities Act (ADA) upgrades
  • Stormwater improvements
  • Raised crosswalks and wider sidewalks
  • Landscaping modifications
  • Pedestrian lighting
  • Bicycle sharrow symbols

Several public meetings were held to review the potential improvements. A summary of those meetings can be found below. 

City of Fort Lauderdale Public Meeting May 4, 2017

During this meeting the following topics were covered: 

  • Improvements to sidewalk curbs/ramps to meet ADA standards
  • Addition of a parallel bike route  
  • Pedestrian lighting
  • High emphasis pedestrian crosswalks
  • Sidewalk improvements
  • Landscaping

FDOT Public Meeting December 13, 2017 

Activities that occurred during this pre-design meeting are as follows:
