The Purpose and Duties of the Community Services Board:

1. The Board shall encourage citizen involvement and participation in community affairs at all levels and provide a vehicle for receiving and transmitting information between residents and the City Commission.

2. The Board shall review and recommend applications to the City Commission for Community Block Grant allocations for public service activities and for Housing Opportunities for Persons with HIV/AIDS (HOPWA) funds for housing related services upon a budget provided to the Board by the City Commission, and act as the advisory board for HOPWA grant activities and report their findings and recommendations to the City Commission.

The Board membership shall consist of three (3) residents from each quadrant of the city and three at-large members such at large members to be representative of various professions and occupations as determined appropriate. One member shall be a Broward County employee involved in the administration of Ryan White funds or other grants associated with assisting persons with HIV/AIDS; a second member shall be from the HIV/AIDS community that includes a person living with HIV/AIDS or a person advocating on behalf of persons with HIV/AIDS in Broward County; a third member shall be a person employed by a public housing authority.
