Explorers-1Fire Explorer Post 713:
Igniting Futures in Fire Service

Fire Explorer Post 713 offers an immersive, hands-on career education program designed for young men and women ages 14 (who have completed 8th grade) through 21. This unique program provides participants with a comprehensive introduction to the fire service, equipping them with essential life skills and practical experience that can shape their future careers.

Training and Skill Development

Explorers engage in a structured curriculum that covers a wide range of fire service fundamentals. Training includes an introduction to the Incident Command System, CPR and first aid at the first responder level, fire suppression techniques, search and rescue operations, radio communications, and more. Participants also gain hands-on experience with hose handling, ladder deployment, ropes and knots, and the proper use of self-contained breathing apparatus and other vital fire rescue equipment.

After completing a six-month probationary period, Explorers become eligible for the Ride Along Program. Before participating, each Explorer must obtain a CPR certification, demonstrate basic medical skills, and show a thorough understanding of the location and use of all equipment on their assigned apparatus.

Special Events and Community Engagement

Fire Explorers have the unique opportunity to take part in exciting community and special events, such as the Air and Sea Show, Tortuga Music Festival, Winterfest Boat Parade, fire safety museum tours, and many others. These experiences not only enhance their learning but also foster teamwork, leadership, and a deep connection to the community.
