About the Public Information Officer

 Frank Guzman serves as the Public Information Officer for Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue, bringing a wealth of experience to the role after two decades as a prominent news professional in South Florida. Throughout his journalism career, Frank was a dedicated member of WSVN-TV, initially working on the Miami assignment desk from 2004 to 2012 before rising to the position of Broward Bureau Chief from 2012 to 2024. His outstanding coverage of Hurricane Dorian in the Bahamas earned him a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award in 2020. A proud South Florida native, Frank holds a degree from the University of Miami, where he studied broadcast journalism and political science.

Frank Guzman’s extensive journalism background significantly enhances his ability to communicate effectively with the community during emergencies. His two decades of experience covering news in South Florida, particularly in high-pressure roles such as assignment desk editor and bureau chief, have honed his skills in gathering accurate information, distilling complex situations into clear messages, and responding swiftly to evolving events. This experience enables him to anticipate public information needs, coordinate timely updates, and ensure that communications are both factual and accessible—critical qualities when providing guidance and reassurance during emergencies

  • Public Communication: Issuing press releases, social media updates, and official notices to keep the public informed on fire safety tips, service updates, and other community outreach efforts.
