What is a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?
An FSA allows an employee to reduce their taxable income by setting aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible health care and dependent care expenses approved by the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). Eligible expenses covered are for you and all of your dependents, even if they are not covered under your primary health plan.
TASC
Effective January 1st, 2025, TASC is the administrator for both the Health Care FSA and Dependent Care FSA. New FSA enrollees will be provided with a new benefits debit card from TASC for use for eligible expenses incurred in plan year 2026.
The maximum election for Health Care FSA for 2026 is $3,400.
The maximum election for Dependent Care FSA for 2026 is $7,500.
The dependent care expenses must be work-related. The care must be necessary for the employee and/or the employee’s spouse to work, to look for work, or to attend school full-time, or if they are physically unable to care for their children. The dependent care expenses provided during a calendar year cannot exceed $7,500. In the case of a separate return by a married individual, the limit is $3,750. This amount may be less if the employee’s earned income or spouse’s earned income is less than $7,500
