Residential 30C Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Tax Credit

The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA) updated the 30C Alternative Fuel Vehicle (or vehicles that don’t only use gasoline or diesel fuel for propulsion) Refueling Property Credit. This credit offers an income tax credit for installing qualified refueling equipment, such as electric vehicle chargers, in specific areas. These areas include low-income community census tracts or non-urban census tracts as defined by IRS Notice 2024-20. Individuals, businesses, and certain tax-exempt entities like state and local governments can apply for the 30C credit. To receive the credit you must purchase and install the charger in your primary residence between Jan. 1, 2023 and Dec. 31, 2032, and fall within an eligible census tract to claim the credit on your federal tax return.

Florida Power & Light's (FPL) EVolution Program offers residential and businesses the opportunity to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at no cost. FPL covers the equipment, installation, and maintenance, while drivers are responsible for paying for the energy used to charge their vehicles. For more information, please visit
