Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE)
A new funding option for upgrading your home or business with energy efficiency improvements or hurricane protection is now available to City of Fort Lauderdale residents and businesses. If you qualify for the Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Program, the program can provide the upfront cost needed to make improvements that will save you money on your utility bill and that will protect your home or business from tropical storms. Qualifying improvements include but are not limited to: Air conditioners, roofing, hurricane impact windows, insulation, solar panels, and water efficient fixtures. Improvements made through programs like these have the ability to raise your property’s value and lower utility bills and homeowner’s insurance costs.
PACE financing covers up to 100% of improvement costs and is repaid over 5 to 20 years (or up to 30 years in some cases) as a non-ad valorem assessment on your property tax bill. The debt stays with the property, meaning if you sell your home or business, the remaining balance transfers to the new owner.
Key Considerations:
Eligibility: Must have paid property taxes for the past three years and meet provider-specific requirements.

The My Safe Florida Home Program (My Safe FL Home), offers financial assistance to eligible Florida homeowners to help retrofit and strengthen homes against storm damage. The program has two (2) main components, both administered by the Florida Department of Financial Services (DFS):
a free, no-obligation Hurricane Mitigation Inspection, which will assess the current hurricane-resistant features of their home and recommend improvements to further strengthen their home against hurricanes.
a Hurricane Mitigation Grant to help cover the cost of recommended home improvements identified during the program’s initial inspection, enhancing the home’s hurricane resistance and potentially qualifying the homeowner for discounts on home insurance premiums. Grant funding is limited and prioritized by program criteria.

Net Zero Plan
In December 2021, the City took a significant step forward in its efforts to reduce emissions, setting net-zero goals for both the City's government (by 2040) and the broader community it serves (by 2050). To that end, the City of Fort Lauderdale's Sustainability Division is developing a Net Zero Plan to identify and prioritize the most impactful strategies and projects to reduce GHG emissions. This plan will be a city-wide approach that considers scale and impact to housing, economic development, transportation, utility services, government services, social infrastructure and equity, and natural and cultural resources.
