Information Regarding Street Closures in the City of Fort Lauderdale

Please be advised that the following report is compiled from multiple sources and agencies that, at times, provide conflicting information. Every effort is made to ensure accuracy; however, due to the fluid nature of road closures, this information is subject to change.


>> The Color Run returns to the streets of Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, May 12th. Motorists are encouraged to carefully review the listed road closures and should expect traffic delays from 6:30 A.M. until approximately 10:30 A.M. The race is tentatively scheduled to begin at 7:30 A.M. Race organizers are expecting approximately 4,400 runners and walkers to participate in this year’s event.

Saturday, May 12

3:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.: East Las Olas Boulevard will be closed from Andrews Avenue to Southeast 3rd Avenue. Las Olas River House traffic will be allowed intermittent access when needed.

7:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.: There will be rolling closures along the following roadways and intersections:

  • Southeast 1st Avenue will be closed from Southeast 2nd Street to Huizenga Plaza.
  • Southeast 2nd Street between Southeast 1st Avenue and Southeast 2nd Avenue. One lane will remain operational.
  • Southwest 3rd Avenue between Southeast 2nd Street and Southeast 6 Street.
  • Southwest 7th Avenue adjacent to Cooley’s Landing Park.
  • Southwest 7th Avenue Bridge.
  • Southwest 4th Avenue between the 7th Avenue Bridge and Southwest 7th Street.
  • Southwest 2nd Street between Southwest 7th Avenue and Southeast 3rd Avenue.

11:00 A.M.: Projected time that all listed detours and closures will be re-opened and returned to normal operations.

Event organizers have placed electronic message boards throughout the route to inform motorists of the above closures. The public is encouraged to follow The Fort Lauderdale Police Department on Twitter (@FLPD411) for public safety updates and traffic advisories.


>> NW 7th Avenue between Sunrise Boulevard and Sistrunk Boulevard -- May 1, 2018 to July 13, 2018

  • Northbound and southbound NW 7th Avenue, will be temporarily narrowed to one lane during off-peak traffic hours.  The through lane adjacent to the sidewalk under construction will be closed.  All other lanes will remain open.
  • The sidewalk within the work area will be temporarily closed, and pedestrians will be redirected to the sidewalk on the opposite side of NW 7th Avenue.
  • All driveways will be accessible. 


>> Traffic Advisory: NW 13th Street and NW 7th Avenue

  • Pipeline repairs are underway in the area of NW 13th Street and NW 7th Avenue.  The eastbound lane of NW 13th Street between Powerline Road (NW 9th Avenue) and NW 2nd Avenue will be closed until repairs are complete.  Please consider alternate routes to avoid congestion.


>> I-95 from south of Broward Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard 

  • Three northbound lanes of I-95 will be closed Sunday through Thursday night between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. The first lane will close at 10:30 p.m., the second lane at 11:30 p.m. and the third lane at 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m.
  • Three southbound lanes of I-95 will be closed Sunday through Thursday night between 10:30 p.m. and 5 a.m. The first lane will close at 10:30 p.m., the second lane at 11:30 p.m. and the third lane at 12:30 a.m. until 5 a.m. All lanes will be open by 5:30 a.m.
  • I-95 in both directions, from south of Davie Boulevard to north of Commercial Boulevard, will have intermittent shoulder and ramp shoulder closures, as needed, daily and nightly.
  • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will have two lanes closed, 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through April.
  • The I-95 northbound entrance ramp from Oakland Park Boulevard will undergo a full nightly closure, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Commercial Boulevard and Powerline Road. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • The I-95 northbound exit ramps to Oakland Park Boulevard will undergo a full nightly closure, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Commercial Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 and Sunrise Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • The I-95 southbound entrance ramps from Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Powerline Road and Sunrise Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • The I-95 southbound exit ramp to Sunrise Boulevard will be closed, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Broward Boulevard and I-95. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • The I-95 southbound entrance ramps from Sunrise Boulevard will be closed, as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via Powerline Road, Oakland Park Boulevard and I-95. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Broward Boulevard will be closed as needed, 11:30 p.m. until 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. Traffic will be detoured via I-95 and Sunrise Boulevard. FHP will be on site to assist motorists.
  • Advanced notice: The I-95 northbound exit ramp to Commercial Boulevard will have one left lane closed, daily, 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, April 16, through April.


>> A1A from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Avenue
  • One lane in each direction of A1A from Oakland Park Boulevard to Flamingo Avenue may be intermittently closed Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. for lighting restoration.


>> Broward Boulevard Improvements and Bridge Replacement
  • The sidewalk along the north side of Broward Boulevard between NW 18 Avenue and NW 15 Avenue is closed. Detour signs are in place to guide pedestrians.
  • Up to two lanes in each direction of Broward Boulevard from US 1 to NW 18 Avenue (500 feet maximum at a time) will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. and Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for drainage improvements, widening, curb and gutter installation, and sidewalk construction.
  • Portions of the sidewalk on either side of the road from NW 18 Avenue to US 1 are closed for construction. Signs are in place to direct pedestrians to the open sidewalk on the opposite side of the road.
  • Access between SW 15 Terrace and Broward Boulevard is closed through April 2018. Detour signage is in place to guide motorists to SW 14 Avenue to access SW 15 Terrace


>> Broward Mobility Project

  • One lane on each direction of NW 31 Avenue from Sunrise Boulevard to Oakland Park Boulevard will be closed Monday through Thursday evenings between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. for milling and resurfacing.
  • One lane in each direction of SW 4 Avenue from SW 28 Street to SR 84 will be closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. for roadway widening and median reconstruction


>> SW 4th Avenue at SW 28th Street Intersection
  • One lane of SW 28 Street at SW 4 Avenue will be intermittently closed Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. for miscellaneous construction activities. Flaggers will direct traffic as needed.

Please remember to slow down in construction areas and always buckle up, drive carefully and arrive safely. Share the road.
