Sea Turtles and Their Babies

Anne Kolb Nature Center offers Sea Turtles and Their Babies, a hatchling release program, on Wednesday and Friday evenings during July and August 2012. The program, which begins Friday, July 6, includes a short presentation followed by a hatchling release at the beach. The hatchling release takes place from 8 to 9:30 p.m. and space is limited. Pre-registration for the program is required and will be accepted beginning May 21, 2012. The fee to participate in the program is $8 per person. Gumbo Limbo Nature Center

Gumbo Limbo Nature Center offers educational displays, turtle walks, and hatchling releases. The turtle walks and hatchling releases do sell out very quickly and there is a fee to participate. Reservations are also required. Gumbo Limbo also sponsors an annual Sea Turtle Day event. For more information, please call (561) 338-1473.

Sea Turtle Awareness Program

Join a Park Ranger every Wednesday and Friday evening during June and July at the Sea Grape Pavilion to participate in the Sea Turtle Awareness Program. Participants will be greeted by a friendly Park Ranger at a campfire setting to learn about sea turtle existence in the past, present, and future. The program also features sea turtle displays, informational brochures, and a short presentation with a question and answer session. While the presentation is taking place, a Park Ranger will scout the beach in search of a nesting sea turtle. Following the presentation, a beach walk may be conducted only in accordance with guidelines established by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and the Florida Park Service. Reservations are required and regular park entry fees will apply ($4 single occupant and $6/vehicle two to eight persons).
