Project Update: June 18, 2026

Since construction began on Monday, February 2, 2026, the contractor has completed the following milestones:

• West Side Progress: Completed the installation of 3,500 feet of new water main on the west side of Hendricks Isle.
• Infrastructure Upgrades: Replaced three water main control valves.
• East Side Progress: Replaced 1,500 feet of existing water main on the east side of Hendricks Isle.
• Meter Box Relocation: Moved water meter boxes from private property into the City’s right-of-way.

What to Expect During Construction

• Work Schedule: Work along the isle is being completed in sections, with each phase taking approximately one month.
• Water Pressure: Neighbors may experience temporary low water pressure.
• Fire Safety: The Fire Marshal will communicate directly with any buildings that require a temporary fire watch during specific construction phases.
• Sanitation & Waste: Neighbors are asked to temporarily relocate their trash, recycling, and yard waste carts if active construction is happening directly in front of their property. The contractor will assist with cart placement whenever possible.

Ongoing & Upcoming Work

• Continued replacement of the final 2,100 feet of existing water main on the east side of Hendricks Isle.
• Ongoing replacement of fire hydrants and the relocation of remaining water meter boxes on both sides of isle.
• Construction remains on schedule for completion in late 2026.

Property & Roadway Restoration

• Temporary asphalt restoration has been completed in areas where active construction is finalized.
• To ensure a smooth finish, final restoration of asphalt and permanent pavement markings will take place toward the end of the project. When road resurfacing is scheduled, the City will notify neighbors in advance so that roadways can be cleared for paving equipment.
• Landscaping restoration will also take place toward the end of the project.

The City of Fort Lauderdale is working with Murphy Pipeline Contractors to improve the water distribution system along Hendricks Isle. This project includes:

• Installing approximately 7,100 feet of new water main
• Installing new water and fire service lines
• Replacing fire hydrants
• Restoring the area as needed including the roadway, sidewalks and landscaping

Construction begins Monday, February 2, and is expected to be completed in late 2026. Work will take place weekdays between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., starting at E. Las Olas Boulevard and heading north along Hendricks Isle. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

• One lane in each direction of Hendricks Isle may be closed throughout construction during work hours. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
• Access to driveways will be maintained unless work is taking place in the immediate area across from the driveway. Crews will attempt to coordinate with neighbors prior to the start of operations that will impact driveway access.
• The areas along the two City seawalls toward the north end of Hendricks Isle will be used to store materials and equipment throughout construction. Neighbors are asked to refrain from parking along these areas.
• Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area
