Nurmi Isles & Las Olas Isles Sewer Improvements Project

The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southern Underground Industries are improving the top slabs (infrastructure lids in the road) at four locations in Nurmi Isles and Las Olas Isles. This project includes:

• Replacing top slabs above underground sewer structures
• Restoring impacted asphalt and landscaping

Schedule & Hours

• Timeline: Monday, August 10, 2026 – Friday, August 28, 2026
• Hours: Mon. – Fri., 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
• Note: Schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen conditions.

What to Expect

• Intermittent noise: Neighbors should expect noise from heavy machinery, equipment and backup safety alarms. 
• Dusty Conditions: Cutting concrete and minor excavation near the work sites may create temporary dust.

Traffic Impacts

• Lane Closures & Overnight Impacts: One lane along each street where work is taking place will be closed during work hours and may remain closed overnight to accommodate equipment and materials. Traffic control personnel will direct traffic as needed.
• Driveways: Access will be maintained unless active construction is occurring directly opposite a driveway, in which case crews will coordinate locally beforehand. 
• Safety: Please follow posted signs and use caution.
