Precautionary Waterway Advisory in Effect for a Portion of the Intracoastal Waterway South of E. Las Olas Blvd. Bridge 

July 19, 2026 – Effective immediately, the City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities in a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway south of the E. Las Olas Blvd. Bridge, including Lake Sylvia, as a result of an overflow in a nearby sanitary sewer manhole. The boundaries of the impacted area are: 

  • North: E Las Olas Blvd
  • South: E Lake Dr
  • East: Seabreeze Blvd
  • West: SE 23rd Ave

Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or engaging in any other water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area. Water sampling in the affected area will take place daily. The precautionary advisory will be lifted once satisfactory test results are obtained.
