                             Precautionary Waterway Advisory in Effect for a Portion of the Intracoastal Waterway South of E. Oakland Park Boulevard Bridge

July 6, 2026 – Effective immediately, the City of Fort Lauderdale is issuing a precautionary advisory to avoid water-related recreational activities in a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway south of the E. Oakland Park Boulevard Bridge as a result of an overflow in a nearby sanitary sewer manhole. The boundaries of the impacted area are:

  • North: E. Oakland Park Boulevard
  • South: NE 27th Street
  • West: NE 30th Avenue
  • East: NE 33rd Avenue

Swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, paddle-boarding, kayaking, canoeing, or engaging in any other water-related activities should be avoided within the advisory area. Water sampling in the affected area will take place daily. The precautionary advisory will be lifted once satisfactory test results are obtained.
