The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southern Underground Industries are making improvements to the sewer system in Colee Hammock. This project includes:

  • Replacing approximately 500 feet of sewer force main
  • Restoring impacted asphalt and landscaping

Construction of the new pipe as part of this emergency project will begin on Wednesday, June 3 and is expected to be completed by Saturday, June 6. Final restoration is expected to be completed by late June 2026. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Neighbors will be notified when final restoration activities are scheduled.

Intermittent noise from heavy machinery, equipment and backup alarms is expected. Temporary lights will be used to illuminate the work area. The contractor will take measures to reduce light and noise impacts for surrounding properties.

Traffic Impacts

Wednesday, June 3 at 6:30 p.m. until approximately 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, June 4

  • SE 12th Avenue will be open to local traffic only between E. Las Olas Boulevard and SE 2nd Court.

Thursday, June 4 at 6 a.m. until approximately 11:59 p.m.

  • All lanes of westbound E. Las Olas Boulevard will be closed between Tarpon Drive and SE 12th Avenue. Traffic will be detoured to SE 13th Avenue, SE 2nd Court and SE 9th Avenue.

Friday, June 5 at midnight until approximately 11:59 p.m.

  • All lanes of eastbound E. Las Olas Boulevard will be closed between SE 12th Avenue and Tarpon Drive. Traffic will be detoured to SE 9th Avenue, SE 2nd Court and SE 12th Avenue.
  • Tarpon Drive will be closed between E. Las Olas Boulevard and north of SE 4th Street.

Traffic control personnel will direct traffic. Please follow posted signs and drive with caution in the area. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank our neighbors for their patience construction.
