Construction Update: Tuesday, July 28

Overnight work is scheduled from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with completion expected by Friday, July 31, 2026. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Note – This work was scheduled for Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28 but was rescheduled due to inclement weather.

What to Expect 

  • Intermittent noise: Neighbors should expect noise from heavy machinery, equipment and backup safety alarms.
  • Temporary lighting: Lights will be used to illuminate the work area.

  • Westbound E. Las Olas Boulevard: Closed between Tarpon Drive and SE 12th Avenue
  • SE 12th Avenue: Closed between E. Las Olas Boulevard and SE 2nd Court
  • Detour: SE 13th Avenue, SE 2nd Court and SE 9th Avenue

Thursday, July 30 at 8 p.m. until approximately 6 a.m. on Friday, July 31

  • Eastbound E. Las Olas Boulevard: Closed between SE 12th Avenue and Tarpon Drive
  • Detour: SE 9th Avenue, SE 2nd Court and SE 12th Avenue
  • Tarpon Drive: Closed between E. Las Olas Boulevard and north of SE 4th Street
  • Detour: SE 4th Street and SE 15th Avenue

The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southern Underground Industries are entering the final phase of this project. With approximately 500 feet of new main successfully installed, crews will soon complete the restoration by applying final pavement markings.

Update: June 15, 2026

Road and landscaping restoration is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 22 and is expected to be completed by Wednesday, June 24. Full road closures described below will be necessary to complete this work.

Crews will return to the area in approximately 30 days to apply final pavement markings, which will require brief, temporary lane closures. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

This restoration phase follows the completion of a recent project by the City of Fort Lauderdale and Southern Underground Industries that replaced approximately 500 feet of sewer force main in the Colee Hammock neighborhood.

The City of Fort Lauderdale and Southern Underground Industries are making improvements to the sewer system in Colee Hammock. This project includes:

  • Replacing approximately 500 feet of sewer force main
  • Restoring impacted asphalt and landscaping

Construction of the new pipe as part of this emergency project will begin on Wednesday, June 3 and is expected to be completed by Saturday, June 6. Final restoration is expected to be completed by late June 2026. This schedule is subject to change based on inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Neighbors will be notified when final restoration activities are scheduled.

  • SE 12th Avenue will be open to local traffic only between E. Las Olas Boulevard and SE 2nd Court.

Thursday, June 4 at 6 a.m. until approximately 11:59 p.m.

  • All lanes of westbound E. Las Olas Boulevard will be closed between Tarpon Drive and SE 12th Avenue. Traffic will be detoured to SE 13th Avenue, SE 2nd Court and SE 9th Avenue.

Friday, June 5 at midnight until approximately 11:59 p.m.

  • All lanes of eastbound E. Las Olas Boulevard will be closed between SE 12th Avenue and Tarpon Drive. Traffic will be detoured to SE 9th Avenue, SE 2nd Court and SE 12th Avenue.
  • Tarpon Drive will be closed between E. Las Olas Boulevard and north of SE 4th Street.
