Help Support Communities Impacted by Earthquakes in Venezuela 

Two earthquakes struck Venezuela on June 24, causing widespread destruction, displacing families and leaving many in need of urgent assistance. The City of Fort Lauderdale, in partnership with Food For The Poor, is collecting essential supplies to support relief and recovery efforts for those most affected. Donations may be dropped off through Sunday, July 12.

Food Items

All food items should have a minimum one-year shelf life.

  • Canned vegetables, including tomatoes, carrots, potatoes, green beans, spinach and mixed vegetables
  • Canned fruits, including peaches, pineapple, mango, pears and similar varieties
  • Canned protein, including chicken, turkey, beef, fish or dehydrated meat
  • Rice, beans, lentils and peas
  • Pasta, oats, cornmeal and cereals
  • Peanut butter, almond butter and sunflower seed butter
  • Cooking oil, including vegetable, canola or sunflower oil
  • Shelf-stable boxed or powdered milk and fortified milk alternatives
  • Nutritional biscuits, energy bars and other ready-to-eat fortified snacks

Essential Non-Food Items

  • Soap, deodorant, washcloths and other travel-size hygiene supplies
  • Tarps
  • Solar lanterns
  • Blankets
  • Diapers for children and adults
  • Feminine hygiene products
  • Children’s activity books and games

Items Not Accepted

The City is not accepting clothing or medications.
