City of Fort Lauderdale residents can conveniently and safely dispose of home electronics curbside on the same day as their scheduled blue cart recycling!

Residents in the City of Fort Lauderdale may participate in the Curbside Electronics Program by completing the Electronics Pick-Up Request Form below.

Curbside electronics pick-up aims to protect the environment from potentially dangerous electronic components, also known as e-waste. Hazardous materials, such as lead, cadmium and mercury, are found in electronic products and can pose a serious risk to human health and the environment if they are disposed in normal waste streams.

How to Schedule a Pick-up

Fort Lauderdale residents can schedule a pick-up by completing the Curbside Electronics Pick-Up Request Form below by 4 pm on the day before their regularly scheduled recycling day. If are unsure of your scheduled recycling collection day, please use City of Fort Lauderdale's GIS and enter your property address.

All electronics should be placed at the curb next to your blue cart no earlier than 6 pm the night before your scheduled collection day but no later than 7 am on your scheduled collection day. You can place items in a cardboard box if they are small.

Do I need to remove my personal information from the devices?

We strongly suggest removing all personal information before placing items out to the curb for collection.

Do I need to schedule a curbside pick-up for my electronics?

Yes. You can schedule a pick-up by 4pm on the day before your regularly scheduled recycling day by completing an online Curbside Electronics Pick-Up Request Form or calling the 24-Hour Neighbor Call Center at (954) 828-8000.

How do I set my electronics out for collection?

I live in a building that doesn't have City-provided collection. Can I still participate in the program?

No. This program is only available to properties receiving City-provided collections for trash and recycling. However, as a City of Fort Lauderdale resident, you can still drop off your electronics at the monthly Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events.

What electronic items will be accepted?

The City will accept communication devices, computers, computer components, DVD, VCR, Blu-ray players, printers, scanner copiers, modems, monitors, routers, speakers, cable boxes, and televisions.

What holidays will I not receive collection?

The City of Fort Lauderdale has regular collections on all holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day.

What is my service day for electronics pick-up?

Your electronics will be picked up by the City's Solid Waste vendor, Republic Services of Florida, on your scheduled curbside electronics collection day. If you want to verify your collection day, you can go to the City's Property Information Reporter. Enter your address and it will show you the curbside electronics collection schedule.

What should I do if my electronics are not collected?

Republic Services is scheduled to provide collections by 6pm each day. If your items are not collected by 6pm, contact the City of Fort Lauderdale 24-Hour Customer Service Center at (954) 828-8000.

Where does the material they collect go?

Electronics taken by Republic Services of Florida will be transported to Urban Mining Public Benefit Company where they will be decommissioned, recycled and disposed of properly.

Who will be picking up electronics?

Republic Services, the current solid waste vendor, will be responsible for picking the items up in a truck with their logo on it.

Why should I recycle my electronics?

Electronics contain heavy metals and other environmental contaminants. By recycling them, you will prevent pollution and allow useful components to be repurposed.

Will I get billed for this service?

No. This program is part of your monthly solid waste and recycling service.
