Public Purpose - To guide and accomplish the coordinated, balanced and harmonious development of a safe neighborhood; to maintain and preserve property values and preserve and foster the development of an attractive neighborhood environment; to reduce crime rates with new cameras, a video storage recorder, and a license plate reader connected to the Fort Lauderdale Real Time Tactical Crime Center

Authority to apply for and receive a planning grant
Authorized to levy ad valorem tax on real and personal property within the District up to two mills annually
Authorized to use special assessments in accordance with the Safe Neighborhoods Act
A majority of the City Commission of the City of Fort Lauderdale shall appoint a board of seven Directors for the District who shall be residents of the District and who are subject to ad valorem taxation
Establish its budget pursuant to provision of Chapter 200, Florida Statutes, and other applicable State Statutes.
