Purpose and Duties

  1. To review established policies and procedures, ordinances, land development regulations and adopted comprehensive plan of the City and shall recommend specific actions or initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing while protecting the ability of the property to appreciate in value.
  2. To evaluate the implementation of affordable housing incentives.
  3. To make recommendations to the City Commission on matters related to affordable housing issues.
  4. To submit to the City Commission triennially. the State Housing Initiative Partnership report that includes recommendations to establish and evaluate the implementation of affordable housing incentives in the areas provided in Section 420.9076 (2), Florida Statutes.
  5. To prepare an overall strategy integrating policies, plans and program delivery related to affordable housing and the use of state and federal entitlement funds.
  6. To recommend strategies and procedures that when implemented will increase the City's capacity to provide more affordable housing.

If you are resident or conduct business in the corporate limits of the City of Fort Lauderdale and is actively engaged in one or more of the following, you may apply for this committee on the Board Details Page.

  1. One who is actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing.
  2. One who is actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking or mortgage industry in connection with affordable housing.
  3. One who is a representative of those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing.
  4. One who is actively engaged as an advocate for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing.
  5. One who is actively engaged as a for-profit provider of affordable housing.
  6. One who is actively engaged as a not-for-profit provider of affordable housing.
  7. One who is actively engaged as a real estate professional in connection with affordable housing.
  8. One who resides within the City of Fort Lauderdale.
  9. One who serves on the City's Local Planning Agency pursuant to Section 163.3174, Florida Statutes.
  10. One who actively represents employers in the City of Fort Lauderdale.
  11. One who actively represents essential services personnel as defined in the City's Housing Assistance Plan.
  12. One who is active in local community improvement activities.
