Central City Land Use Plan Amendment Project

The City of Fort Lauderdale is preparing amendments to its Future Land Use Element and Future Land Use Map to align the future land use designation boundaries with those of the Central City Community Redevelopment Area (CRA).

The Central City Land Use Plan Amendment (LUPA) project scope includes evaluating whether to modify an existing future land use designation or establish a new designation for the Central City mixed-use area. The goal is to create a cohesive land use framework that will guide future zoning changes and support redevelopment opportunities within the Central City CRA.

The City's Future Land Use Element and Map are subject to both City of Fort Lauderdale and Broward county review. The proposed amendments will require approval by the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, Broward County Planning Council, and Broward County Commission.

For additional information about the project, including planning materials, and details on the ongoing work, please visit the Central City LUPA Project website maintained by the City’s consultant, MHCP Colab. The website will serve as a resource for the Community to follow the project’s progress and stay informed about upcoming opportunities for public engagement.
