Elevation Certificates

Elevation certificates are required in the City of Fort Lauderdale for all new construction and substantial improvements, as well as for any additions being made to an existing structure. The City of Fort Lauderdale does not prepare elevation certificates; certificates are prepared by licensed surveyors, architects and engineers. The certificates are submitted to the Floodplain Manager as a requirement of the building permit process. Once submitted, a copy of the certificate is retained on file.

To check whether an elevation certificate is available online for a specific property, use the Elevation Certificate Search link. If the certificate is not online, please contact Pedro Cardenas at Pcardenas@fortlauderdale.gov or 954-828-4255 for further assistance.
